What can I see in the survey results reports?
Once you are logged in, you have access to three separate results reports. The detailed and summary reports include 4 categories of data that display all respondents:
- in your school,
- in all schools of the same level (elementary, middle, high schools) in the state, and
- in all schools in your district
- in all schools in your state
The detailed results reports offer a view of all responses for all survey items. On the left-side menu bar, you can jump to sections of the report, print the bar reports as a PDF file, or go to your summary results.
- Note: Hover your mouse cursor over a category on one of the bars, and a box with the number and percentage of respondents indicating that answer appears.
The summary results reports offer a view of the percentage of respondents indicating “Agree” or “Strongly Agree” for all of the survey questions asked as agreement questions. On the left-side menu bar, you can jump to sections of the report, print the tables as a PDF file, export the results to an Excel file, or go to the detailed results.
The comparison results offer a view of the percentage of respondents indicating “Agree” or “Strongly Agree” for all of the agreement questions common to the 2009 and 2011 surveys. If your school reached the threshold in 2011 but did not reach it in 2009, the 2009 column will read "N/A."
- Note: The 2009 TELL Maryland survey included agreement items on a 5-point scale (strongly disagree, somewhat disagree, neither disagree nor agree, somewhat agree, and strongly agree). The % Agree in the 2009 column is the percentage of respondents indicating somewhat or strongly agree on the 5-point scale. In 2011, the survey was changed to include agreement items on a 5-point scale (strongly disagree, disagree, agree, strongly agree, don't know). The % Agree in the 2011 column is the percentage of respondents indicating agree or strongly agree among those who indicated agreement or disagreement. The comparison includes questions identically worded on both the 2009 and 2011 survey. The item numbers on the comparison reports correspond to those on the 2011 TELL Maryland survey.

What if I want to save or print the results? The bars lose color and the results get cut off when I print from the website.
The results may not print accurately directly from the web. Whether the bars include color and whether all of the results can be seen in the print out are dependent on the settings on your web browser. Therefore, to ensure that you can print (and save) the results, we have created the “Print to PDF” function available on the left hand navigation bar under the results tab (when you are logged in). If you click it, the page will open as an Adobe PDF file, at which point you can print it on any printer or save it as a file on your computer.
If you want to print the detailed results directly from the web page and are using Internet Explorer, you can activate printing background colors by following these steps. Please note, this will apply to all print outs from the Web unless you change the settings back.
- In Internet Explorer, click on the Tools menu.
- Select Internet Options
- Click on the Advanced tab
- Scroll down to Printing
- Check the box to "Print background colors and images"
